What is Jihad?
Jehad literally means to put forth effort and energy towards something. According to Shariah, jehad refers to elevating the Order of Allah and using one’s life, possessions, and all of one’s verbal and written abilities to defend oneself against an adversary. The Holy Prophet (SAW) gave the order to carry out Jihad, and the Holy Prophet (SAW) and his companions did so until the end of their lives.
Jehad was permitted in 2 A.H., and the Holy Prophet (SAW) personally took part in roughly 28 wars known as Ghazwat. Saryah refers to fights that were conducted by the Companions under the direction of the Holy Prophet (SAW). There are now 77 Saryah. This indicates that there were a total of 105 conflicts waged under the direction of the Holy Prophet (SAW) throughout the course of the previous 10 years: 28 + 77. The Holy Prophet (SAWcompanions )’s and the Prophet himself engaged in 105 large and small conflicts throughout the course of ten years, as is evident from this statistic.
Additionally, it shows that the Holy Prophet (SAW) and His Companions’ lives were devoted entirely to fighting the unbelievers. It is also obvious that Jehad was required of all believers in order to defend Islam.
It is also evident from the fact that Jehad against unbelievers helped to solidify Islam as a faith. The heart of Islamic solidarity, endurance, and firmness is jehad.
Social Repercussions of Jihad
1. Jehad fosters a sense of unity among religious adherents. They turn stone-like and impervious to any bad energy.
2. Jehad fosters camaraderie and brotherhood among its adherents. The populace unites and confronts even the strongest force of infidelity with this force. They escape the shackles of servitude and win complete freedom. It implies that Jihad is the price of liberty. A country must adopt Jehad against all bad influences both within and outside of society if it wants to enjoy freedom.
3. A society that has Jehad-qualified members will be able to control social ills, sins, and crimes. Jehad establishes social organisation and social integrity among the populace, enabling them to adhere to societal norms. They advance the objectives of social growth.
4. Suicide rates decrease among individuals who support Jihad. because they have a keen interest in people’s social lives and work to protect them.
5. The populace’s political disruption movements against the government slow down. Any attempt at overthrowing the government fails in a society where jehad is practised.
6. The door to Jehad is always open in Muslim culture because doing Jihad allows the evil spirit that causes social disorganisation in society to leave and gives people a life of peace and prosperity. If Jehad is prohibited in a Muslim society, people will either commit mass murder or commit suicide by fighting.
7. The people who are hostile to Islam are scared of jihad. They are afraid that by denying Muslim societies these resources, the doors to Jihad will be closed and Jihad will not be carried out.
8. Jehad keeps a nation’s defensive power strong. Because Jehad keeps the entire country constantly prepared and wary.
9. A society with a Jehadi spirit always has strong morale and conducts itself honourably in the international community.
10. Jehad fosters the spirit of self-sufficiency and high morality that helps Muslims defeat unbelievers in all spheres.
In the Light of the Qur’an, Jehad
“A do Jehad in the way of Allah, full Jehad,” Allah says in Surah Hajj of the Holy Quran.
It is revealed in Surah Anfal,
وَجَاهِدُوۡا فِىۡ اللّٰهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖؕ
اور خدا (کی راہ) میں جہاد کرو جیسا جہاد کرنے کا حق ہے۔
“O followers of Christ, do not turn away when you engage in combat with unbelievers in a conflict. And the person who turned away from the unbelievers that day came back in dread of Allah “
The believers were warned in this Quran that turning back against their adversaries in a war would make them dread Allah.
“And those people who were killed in the path of Allah, do not call them dead, But they are living; you do not understand,” Allah stated in reference to those who were killed in His way.
ترجمہ :۔ اور جو لوگ اللہ کی راہ میں قتل کئے گئے ان کے بارے میں یوں نہ کہو کہ وہ مرده ہیں۔ بلکہ وہ زندہ ہیں لیکن اس کا تم ادراک نہیں کرسکتے.
We can infer from the Holy Quran’s aforementioned verses that Jihad is an integral component of Islam. Jehad is the sole means by which Islam and Muslims can be defended. Because wicked forces are constantly working to destroy them and wipe them off the face of the earth.
In light of the Hadith Jihad
In accordance with a Hadith, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) declared: “In the way of Allah for Jehad, coming out once in the morning and once in the evening is far better than all the blessings and the whole world.” It is preferable to stand in line for Jihad than to remain in the house and offer a 60-year Salat.
This Hadith clearly states that Jehad is considered by Allah to be a greater prayer than Salat or any other prayer. In a different Hadith of the Holy Prophet (SAW) related by Hazrat Ans (May Allah be pleased with him), It is stated that someone who keeps watching at night on a seashore does a better service than someone who prays for a thousand years within.
This Hadith makes it more obvious that a naval force’s Jehad is once more a larger supplication in Allah’s service.
Another Hadith of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) states that a person who neither engaged in Jihad nor harboured any intention of doing so will perish as a result of a certain form of Nifaq (hypocrisy). This Hadith leads us to the conclusion that having a desire to engage in Jihad or at least have that desire be a component of one’s faith in Islam. A Muslim who lacks these two characteristics is not a real follower of Islam. He probably will pass away due to some form of hypocrisy.
CONCLUSION:
We draw the following conclusions from the debate above: 1. Jehad sets believers free from the flames of hell; 2. Jehad can be accomplished not only via the use of one’s physical body but also through the use of money, mouth, and pen.
3. The adherents of Islam must be equipped with military hardware and warfighting skills in order to defend themselves against infidels.
4. The passing of a believer without engaging in Jihad or having that purpose is not proof of their loyalty;
5. Mujahid’s most beautiful supplication to Allah is to protect the borders of a state. A devoted person’s life is always spent in jihad (holy war) against unbelievers.
7. Jehad strengthens relationships between people by tying them firmly together and removing any points of vulnerability.
8. Among Muslims, jehad refers to a spirit of love and integrity used to combat the bad powers of unbelievers. They produce it as a result of adhering to the Holy Prophet, which is the actual spirit of Islam (SAW).
9. Jehad eliminates social inequality and fosters a sense of subservience to the king. The populace travels the path of justice and rises up in the power of Jihad against the forces of injustice.
Jehad eliminates inequality and injustice in a society’s population in this way.
10. Jehad instils terror in the hearts of Islam’s adversaries. They find it difficult to stand up against Muslims.
